Value Added
Tax
Add VAT to an amount or extract it from a VAT-inclusive total — the total appears in figures and in words.
The formula
- 1
Adding VAT
VAT = amount × 15%, and total = amount + VAT.
- 2
Extracting it from a total
Amount before VAT = total ÷ 1.15, and VAT = total − amount before VAT. It is not 15% of the total.
- 3
Rounding
Results are rounded to the nearest halala.
